The divisive and hate-filled rhetoric has been louder than usual of late. If I thought we were polarized before, it only broadened the chasm. I truly believe we were all born perfectly designed, yet I can’t believe the hatred and divisiveness (that is actually global) is what we were meant to become. Is this all there is? Are we imploding? Is there hope?
My husband and I took a little weekend respite up to the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. I hoped to have some space away to shirk off the heaviness I’d been feeling. Like so many, I was all into the feels, and they didn’t feel good. I got more than I hoped. I’d like to share it with you.
I begin my days with journaling, meditation and card pulls. The respite began with these cards from my Dragonfly Journey Oracle Card Deck: Healing – it’s time to get unstuck and Be Present – embrace the now.
That day, we happened upon the boyhood home site of W.E.B. DuBois, set along a wooded trail, with signage of his profound statements along the path. As I read them, I could see that the issues he wrote about in the 1940’s and 50’s were still relevant today. He wrote “I believe in one God who of one blood all races that dwell on earth. I believe that all men, black and brown and white, are brothers, varying through Time and Opportunity, in form and gift and feature, but differing in no essential particular, and alike in soul and in the possibility of infinite development.” He wrote of the power struggles that engulfed us then and still do today.
As we walked along, we came upon this clearing where there were logs set in a circle. I sat and contemplated. I was in silence and present. While his writings were focused on democracy, I paused on the human focus and asked myself, and Spirit,
“If we all were born perfectly designed, what happened to us?”
My contemplation wandered to Human Design.
Seventy percent of humans are of the Generator type, the defined sacral being. This world has been built by the Generators, the systems and structures, government, education, health care, finance, technology and more. The two-party system of elected government, was built on ideals we struggle to live up to. We’ve been driven for success, measuring it in terms of wealth and property. The American dream is Generator focused – build your wealth, buy the house and car, travel, make money. Someone once said to me “He who dies with the most toys wins.” The American Dream is all about achievement.
It’s imploding.
One thing about Generators is that they are built for mastery. They need to try and try again, repeat and try, repeat and try, until they get it. When they get to the point of deep frustration, wanting to give up, it’s exactly the time to keep on going because they’re at a breakthrough for mastery. And so I wonder, are we at the point of a breakthrough that will, eventually, move us towards the ideals? If so, we cannot give in. We cannot give up.
Then my thoughts went to my belief that we are all perfectly designed. What we’re witnessing is also conditioning in play. So many of us are living as the not-self, the conditioned self, the low expression of who we’re meant to be. We are wired to love and be compassionate. We’re wired to care for the community and the collective. We’re wired to reach for harmony and peace. To nurture values and faith in something greater than ourselves.
We have a long way to go.
My husband bought me a labradorite specimen earlier that day. It was breathtaking with what appears to be a black landscape of treetops and dark clouds. Between them is a bursts of fiery orange color, as if the sky is on fire. Yet, as I move the stone in the light, I see spots of rainbows in many places.
And I knew.
We are living in a fiery orange time unlike ever before. Yet, there are rainbows everywhere. Those who reject the hatred and violence, who show compassion for their fellow human being, who nurture values of courage and love, the lightworkers and energy workers, the healers, the spiritual, all are rainbows.
These are the people who are moving beyond their conditioned selves that happened to all of us. These are the people who are seeking to be a higher version of human, acting in the light of Spirit, God, the Divine, Universe. One friend calls this presence GUS for God-Universe-Spirit, covering all her bases.
So
I went into this weekend excursion with the message to heal and be present. My card messages over the weekend included Betrayal and Truth. Allow my anger to be felt for we are betrayed by the implosion occurring on the ideals we were conditioned to believe, whether democratic ideals or those of the religion we were raised in.
Then, come to your Truth. The truth of who you are. What you believe. The truth of your humanity. It’s all there in your Human Design if you seek to find it.
Today, my cards were Wonder and Authenticity. Be like a child and view the world with wonder. Don’t become jaded. Don’t give up. This is the exact time when you feel overwhelmed, discouraged, frustrated, angry, hopeless to take in some deep cleansing breaths and pray.
Meditate.
Commit to becoming your authentic self.
Be a rainbow.
